Opening Guest Speaker: Shami Chakrabarti

Throughout history women have been at the helm of social change and tackling injustice. Islington Children and Young People Voluntary Sector Forum aim to highlight the contributions made by ordinary women in the borough - getting things done through passion, dedication and commitment. The voluntary sector has been at the core of social action and tackling injustice throughout British history. We are currently experiencing further political change that will impact on the lives of children and young people

The Women Making a Difference Conference will illustrate and highlight the remarkable impact women have had on our borough and beyond - and the difference that their passion, dedication and commitment has made to the environment and lives of children and young people in Islington.

The conference will Celebrate achievements of women in the voluntary sector, Connect people with each other, and Inspire young women to see what is possible to achieve by activism and involvement. The themes are around

  • The history of achievements of Women in Islington; especially those impacting the rights of children and young people
  • What has been done and future aims
  • Women and girls can see how they can make a difference
