This recognition is a celebration of our journey, our challenges, and the unwavering spirit of our dedicated playworkers.New London Awards 2024 Winners – New London ArchitectureSince our establishment in 1968, MLK Adventure Playground has been a beacon of joy for local children and families. However, the road has not always been smooth. The demolition of our previous facility in 2018 left our community longing for a safe space to play and connect. From that moment of uncertainty, we embarked on a mission to rebuild not just a playground, but a vibrant hub for creativity and community.
Our new facility, organised around a central play space, reflects our commitment to safeguarding and nurturing the imagination of every child. The flexible layout encourages diverse activities, while the wraparound terrace invites families to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and welcoming environment. The bright red exterior stands as a symbol of hope and resilience in the heart of our neighbourhood.
This award is a testament to the power of community-driven projects that contribute to a more sustainable, civilised, and egalitarian London.
