Graduate Internship- Fundraising

Islington Play Association is a vibrant, proactive children’s charity. Our aim is simple – to create, provide, improve and protect places for the children of Islington to play.

Play is what children do when they are allowed freedom to explore their world. Our playgrounds are unique exciting places where no two days are the same. Expect to be amazed and inspired by the depth and breadth of the innovative and original ideas of children at play.

We are a highly respected organisation in the world of play delivering excellent, high quality services making a real difference for the children of Islington. We run six adventure playgrounds, including one specifically designed for disabled children, Paradise Park Children’s Centre and a range of other play focused projects across the borough. Our aim is to continue to expand our services and to ensure that we have a wide ranging offer for the children, young people and families in Islington.

IPA has a part time fundraising manager and the short term funding to invite an enthusiastic individual  to join us in creating a strategy for the charity to maximise income from our existing projects, research new funding opportunities and build new approaches for the future. We very much hope that this investment will help us to create a longer term team that will work with us going forward.

Role Summary:
We require an entrepreneurial individual with excellent organisational skills to work on our fundraising and events services. The role will be based in Islington where you may work out of a range of our offices. This is an excellent opportunity if you have interest in fundraising, events management, PR or the charity sector.

Key Responsibility:
You will have strong MS office skills including the ability to use Outlook and PowerPoint. You will be creative and innovative and able to research fundraising opportunities. You will be confident interacting at many levels. You will work with the P/T fundraising manager to maximise income generation possibilities for the charity.

  1. Learning about how to maximise income for a busy charity
  2. Researching and analysing the picture for children and young people in Islington
  3. Gaining experience working with a committed team
  4. Obtaining invaluable insight into the charity sector
  5. Taking a key role in communications including report writing
  6. Involved in events and fundraising activities
  7. Updating the website and other social media platforms
  8. Suggesting new and innovative ideas to support children and young people

What are the key candidate requirements for the role?

  1. Confident manner backed up with strong analytical and numerical skills
  2. Experienced across the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  3. Exceptional communication skills
  4. Great organisation and time-management skills to manage different projects simultaneously
  5. Exemplary eye for detail
  6. Keen to work in a fun, innovative environment
  7. Genuine passion for improving the life chances for children and young people
